Biography
Jim Zimmer is the founder and principal consultant of GSD Engineering Group, a cybersecurity consultancy built on 15+ years of hands-on federal program experience. His career spans the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, and federal civilian agencies where he has led engineering teams, directed RMF/ATO compliance efforts, and architected enterprise infrastructure across some of the government's most operationally demanding environments.
Jim holds an MBA alongside a Master of Cybersecurity and Bachelor of Computer Engineering, giving him the rare ability to communicate risk and strategy at both the executive and technical levels. He founded GSD to bring that same rigor, precision engineering, root-cause thinking, and mission-ready execution, to mid-market organizations that need enterprise-grade security without enterprise-level overhead.
